The Dublin Jerome Ice Hockey Alumni Association Board of Directors includes the following:
Coach Murphy is extremely pleased and proud to confirm the creation of the Dublin Jerome Alumni Hockey Association! This alumni association has been a long-standing goal, and its existence will hopefully ensure the traditions and excellence of Celtic hockey for years to come, while uniting the alumni hockey players and their families for the foreseeable future.
Coach Murphy is the inaugural head coach of the Dublin Jerome Celtics ice hockey program, having been hired by former principal Steve Best in the fall of 2004. He is entering his 20th season as the leader of the Jerome ice hockey program. During his tenure, the program’s record stands at 426 wins, 210 losses, and 50 ties. Over 19 seasons, the Celtics have collected 9 CBJ Cups, 3 Columbus district titles, 4 Capital Hockey Conference regular season championships, and finished as OHSAA State Runner Up in 2019.
Mr. Murphy started his teaching career at Jerome High School in 2006. Over the years, he has taught many subjects as part of the social studies department. He is also involved in other areas at DJHS, including Chairman of the Jerome Hall of Fame Committee, fall and spring sports faculty manager, and faculty advisor to the Investment Club and the Entrepreneurs Club.
Murph would like to thank all of the individuals who have shaped Celtic Hockey into one of the most respected programs in central Ohio and across the state. These include current and former school administrators, players, coaches, and parent volunteers. The mission statement of the Dublin Jerome Alumni Hockey Association states that this organization will raise funds and provide support to the Dublin Jerome ice hockey program, donate to local charities focused on assisting young adults in the Columbus area, and unite Celtic hockey alumni players and their families through fundraising and social functions.
The Celtic hockey motto must carry on for all alumni members and future players:
Celtic Hockey: Character, Commitment, Courage!
Mr. Mayfield spent 15 seasons as an assistant coach for the Celts from 2008 through the 2022-23 season. He was part of four CHC League Championships (2011, 2012, 2018, 2019), eight Blue Jackets Cup Championships (2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), and the State Final Runner-up team in 2019.
Coach Mayfield is originally from Buffalo, NY where he graduated from Canisius High School and moved to Columbus in 2004 after earning his degree from Canisius College. He is currently a Trade Development Manager with Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits and represents the sales and financial interests of Beam Suntory Low Proof for the state of Ohio. He resides in Grandview Heights with his wife Rachel, daughter Reece, and dog Lola. When not at work he enjoys golfing, camping, and spending time with his family on a beach somewhere.
“I am honored to be part of the inaugural Jerome Hockey Alumni Association Board of Directors. The leadership and passion of the other Alumni Board Members is second only to Murph’s, and they are dedicated to building and furthering the legacy that is Dublin Jerome Hockey. It is a special thing to be a part of and a testament to quality of young men that have come through this program. The future remains bright for Celtic hockey!”
Jeff is a 2007 DJHS graduate where he was a three year member of the varsity hockey team and a two time Blue Jacket Cup winner. Jeff graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Public Affairs and currently works for Liberty Mutual Insurance.
Jeff recently moved back to Dublin with his wife (Jamie), son (Reid), daughter (Briar), and two dogs (Palmer and Cooper). Jeff enjoys watching hockey and football, spending quality time with his family, and enjoying all the amenities Dublin has to offer. Jeff looks forward to working with the alumni association and hopes to help unite former players while helping current and future players enjoy their time with Jerome hockey as much as he did.
Go Celts!
Scott is a 2008 Dublin Jerome High School Graduate. During his tenure, he represented the school as a student athlete in golf, hockey, and baseball; his passion being hockey. Scott played JV as an eighth- grader prior to becoming one of the first 4-year varsity hockey lettermen in Jerome’s history. Scott and the Celtics won 3 straight CBJ Cups during his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior seasons in which he led as Assistant Captain and Captain in the latter two, respectively.
Scott earned his Accounting and MIS degree from Miami University and currently lives in Columbus, Oh with his wife, Addie, and son, Fitz. Professionally, he works in investment banking with a focus on advising business owners on succession planning and business continuity. He enjoys spending time with his family at the lake, water skiing, golfing, and the occasional pond hockey game.
His fondest high school memories involve the DJHS hockey program. Spending time on and off the ice with teammates as a player can’t be replaced yet continuing to grow the Celtic bond with past players, coaches, and families through the Alumni Association is an integral reason for his involvement in the organization.
Michael Lamping graduated from Dublin Jerome in 2008 and was a member of the golf and hockey teams during that time. He graduated from Ohio University in 2012 and 2014 and currently live in Columbus, Ohio with wife (Lindsay), son (Miles) and dog (Duke). Professionally he works for the Columbus Fire Department, currently at 6’s, and enjoys spending time with his family at the Lake. He is honored to be a part of the Dublin Jerome Hockey family and looks forward to supporting student athletes and their families through his involvement with the Alumni Association.
Justin is a proud alumnus of Dublin Jerome High School, where he graduated in 2009. Both of Justin’s brothers, Travis (’08) and Braedon (’12), also graduated from Jerome. Justin then went on to Miami University, graduating in 2013 with a degree in Accounting. Justin is very proud of his singular claim to fame; being a 4-year employee of the Bagel & Deli Shop in Oxford.
Justin currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of EASE Logistics Services, a role in which he oversees the company's financial strategies and many of its administrative functions. Justin started working at EASE in the fall of 2016 when the company had 14 employees and has since grown to over 300! EASE was started by a fellow Dublin Jerome alumnus and continues to employ many graduates from the Dublin City School District.
Justin moved back to Dublin, Ohio, in the spring of 2022 where he lives with his wife, Julia, daughter, Olivia, and his dog, Odie. In his free time, Justin attempts golfing, running, restoring cars & motorcycles, and snow skiing.
