VARSITY wins Regional Division and ADVANCES to State SEMIS!

The Varsity Celts battled the top seeded St. Charles team on Sunday and left the ice with the win! The Celts defeated the St. Charles Cardinals 2-0 with John Michael Beuselinck anchoring the team to victory. The Ice Haus game was sold out and the Celts brought home the hardware while surrounded by a sea of red. The Celtic fans and student section were loud in the rink and brought the energy to the game!

During the regular season, St. Charles had bested the Celts each of the 4 times they met but with narrow victories.  The Celts went into the regional tournament seeded second. To get to the final game, the Celts defeated Olentangy Orange 6-1 and then beat Upper Arlington 3-1.  St. Charles defeated Olentangy and Liberty prior to the Regional Final match up.

The Celts scored in the first period on their first power play of the game. Luke Myers got the Celts GWG with an assist by Mason Shea at 1:32 left in the period.  Both teams were scoreless in the second period. The Celts maintained the lead battling against the Cardinals in the third period. With 2:15 left in the game, Nick Myers scored the second goal of the game securing a 2-0 victory.  

St. Charles pulled their goalie with 2 minutes left in the game, having a 6 on 5 advantage. With 1:54 left in the game, the Celts went on the penalty kill facing 6 skaters for St. Charles. Beuselinck faced 17 shots during the game, but with the 6 on 4 advantage, 4 of those shots came in the last minutes of the game! Beuselinck came away with the shut out and the Celts advance to the State semifinals!

In the State Semifinals, the four Ohio Regional Champions meet at Nationwide Arena. Gilmour Academy (Kent Region) will face Sylvania Northview (Bowling Green Region) ; followed by St. Ignatius (Brooklyn Region) and DUBLIN JEROME CELTS (Columbus Region)! The games are scheduled for Saturday, March 14th at 1pm and 4pm. The Championship game will be March 15th at 4pm.

The Celts take the ice on March 14th at 4pm at Nationwide Arena. Let's have a field of green supporting the Dublin Jerome Celtics on Saturday!
